Mick Malthouse wanted to see where his players 'were at' in the lead up to Saturday's clash against the Hawks, well I think he got his answer; nowhere. Even with Luke Hodge for half the match the Hawks smashed collingwood 24.10(154) to 13.11(89). To top it off 10 of Hawthorns 24 goals came in the final term which prompted coach Alistair Clarkson to praise his fitness staff after the match. The Hawks are set to lose Luke Hodge after his pulled his right hamstring minutes into the 3rd term. Sam Mitchell ran rampant with 39, mostly effective, possessions and received sportal man of the match honors for his trouble. Roughead performed well throughout the match and kicked 6 as did Buddy who had 6 goals after a very quiet start to the match. Mark Williams has shown that injury hasn't hampered him with 5 goals straight for his efforts.
Trent Croad hasn't had a goal kicked on him in 2 matches this season after he stopped Travis Cloak from kicking a major. Medhurst managed a sympathy goal after Campbell Brown hurled him into the ground after the balled spilled loose. There were late changes for both teams. Magpie utility Ryan Cook came in for the danger man Anthony Rocca while Chance Bateman was replaced by big Stuart Dew who was instrumental in clearing the ball from half back as well as setting up a few goals of his own. There is no other word to describe Dale Thomas other than soft. He is more interested in a nomination for a Logie then playing for the hard ball, probably to protect his manicure. Jordan Lewis was his usual 'forceful' self, letting whoever he was playing on know exactly where they were and what they were up against. Next week looks like it could be the match of the round after Port Adelaide thumped Essendon at AAMI stadium, however, come to think about it, Collingwood did the same thing last Friday...
