Hawthorn Defeat Lions

The Hawks have pulled off a sterling victory to beat the Lions at the Gabba, where they have not won since 2000! Hawthorn finished the match 19.16(130) to 17.16(118). If you were not lucky enough to catch the game you can view the match Highlights by clicking here (best to use Internet Explorer). But What A Game! Jonathon Brown barely got a touch (didn't get a goal thanks to the return of Croad) and the two leading goal kickers in the league booted 15 between them (Buddy with 8 and Bradshaw with 7).

In a surprising move Brown started in the midfield with task of matching up on superstar Luke Hodge who finished with 18 possessions and 1 goal 1 behind. Brown may also have to front up to the tribunal for a late hit on Sam Mitchell who was awarded a free kick and a gifted goal for the pleasure.

It certainly was an actioned packed match with many lead changes during the course of the game. The boys are really looking strong. With good wins against Adeliade, Fremantle, Brisbane, North Melbourne and Melbourne it's hard not to get excited about the season ahead.
